Day 1: Welcome To Peru

Welcome to Peru! Upon arrival in Lima, after clearing Immigration and Customs you are met and transferred to your hotel. Lima, the Peruvian Capital, was founded by Spanish conqueror Pizarro in 1,535 like the “City of the Kings”. As the starting point for most travelers, it has developed a great variety of destinations to visit like the historical and archaeological centers, museums, festivities, nightlife and art galleries. Steeped in history, Lima strives to maintain a balance between modernism and tradition.

  • Overnight in Lima (Altitude: Sea Level)
  • Meals: None

Day 2: Lima City Of The Kings And Local Authentic Districts.

This morning, we will invite you on a private tour of Lima, ‘The City of the Kings´, where you will enjoy seeing the best of both colonial and modern Lima. We will take you to the San Martin Plaza, where you will walk through the busy and fascinating pedestrian-only Jirón de la Union, Union Street, which leads to the Plaza de Armas, the main plaza. This street was constructed in 1535 and still retains its old charm with a number of shops and restaurants set in a mixture of old and new buildings. We will then arrive at the Plaza de Armas, a beautiful square surrounded by palaces. The colonial part of Lima is full of history and our expert guide will give you an introduction to the current capital of Perú.After visiting the central part of Lima, we will head to a more local authentic area, such as Chorrillos, a district famous for its fishing activity where you will see the local fisherman activity and explore the real local part of Lima. We will then continue through Barranco, where we will have a short walk around this bohemian and old district of Lima, located on an impressive cliff that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. After your Lima experience, you will arrive back at your hotel and may spend the rest of the day at your at leisure.

Day 3: Flight Over The Enigmatic Nazca Lines And Visit Huacachina Oasis.

Today, you will depart early in the morning towards Ica. This journey will take approximately four hours and will take from the vibrant city along the coastline to the desert. Upon arrival in Ica, around noon, we will take you to the Ica Airport where you will board your 1.5-hour flight over the incredible Nazca and Palpa Lines, a series of ancient geoglyphs in the desert made by the Nazca culture (approx. 400 – 650AD). Nowadays, the reason and for what purpose these geoglyphs were created continues to remain a mystery. During the flight, you will be able to see fascinating figures such as the monkey, hummingbird, tree, parrot, astronaut, dog, condor among others. After your flight, we will take you to the Huacachina Oasis, a paradise for landscape lovers as it´s a beautiful oasis surrounded by pristine sand dunes. If you are an adventurist you should experience the dunes and sand boarding on an unforgettably wild sand buggy adventure (add-on activity). After this exciting day, we will finally transfer you to your hotel.

Day 4: Ballestas Islands Bird Watching And Return To Lima.

On the boat ride to the islands, you will be able to see the ‘Candelabro´, which is a giant geoglyph in the shape of a candle holder. When you arrive at the Ballestas Islands, you will stay on the boat to observe a chaotic flurry of amazing animals including noisy but playful fur seals and sea lions as well as a huge number of seabirds including Humbolt penguins, pelicans, tendril, Inca tern, the Peruvian booby, red-legged cormorant, and guanay. You will travel closely around the islands to have a spectacular view of the animals on the shore, those flying overhead, and those swimming underwater. Day 6 : Sacred Valley – Train To Aguas Calientes And Machu Picchu Exploration

Begin your journey through the Inca heartland with a full day Sacred Valley tour. The Sacred Valley of the Incas, just outside of Cusco, is a gorgeous sprawling span of green farms, lofty terraced mountains along with numerous quaint towns unmoved by time.  The Sacred Valley is the center of lively festivals and the best handicrafts in Peru.  Our first stop is the artisanal capital of Peru, the small village of Pisac; it’s famous for its craft market in the main plaza, busiest on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, where local natives come to sell their colorful woven cloth, alpaca wool ponchos and fashions, reproductions of ancient jewelry, engraved gourds and much, much more. Pisac is the best stop in Peru for mementos of your trip to bring home to family and friends. After a delicious lunch in Urubamba, we’ll travel Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that remains inhabited.  This traditional town is a wonderful example of pre-Colombian architecture.  Here we will explore the expansive ruins overlooking the town and discuss their history and traditional beliefs of the people of the Sacred Valley. Later in the afternoon in Ollantaytambo we’ll catch the train to Aguas Calientes to get ready to explore Machu Picchu early the next morning.

  • Overnight in Machu Picchu (Altitude: 2200 m. – 7218 ft)
  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.

Day 7: Machu Picchu – Train To Ollantaytambo And To Cusco.

Today is the highlight of any trip to South America – Machu Picchu! This world-famous site is easily the most remarkable pre-Colombian city in the world, partially because of its mysterious beauty and its lofty place among the Andean cloud forest. A guided tour will help you discover and understand what Machu Picchu shares about the life and customs of the Incas. Surrounded by dramatic terraces cut into the mountain sides, famed for innovatively feeding the empire, this complex city will have you fascinated all day. Narrow roads and steps connect ancient houses, temples, warehouses, and a large central square. Our guide will give you a thorough history of the ruins and the Incas as well as share with you the possible explanations for Machu Picchu’s function and importance. You’ll have free time for an optional and very challenging, unguided hike to the top of Huayna Picchu, where you will have the best view of Peru’s World Wonder. This hike is only recommended for people who are in good physical condition and with no fear of heights, but the unparalleled views of Machu Picchu are especially rewarding. After a long day of exploring this lost city, we’ll hop the bus down the mountain back to Aguas Calientes and catch the train back to Cusco. Upon arrival to Cusco we’ll drop you off at your hotel for a good night’s rest.

  • Overnight in Cusco (Altitude: 3350 m. – 10991 ft)
  • Meals: Breakfast.

Day 8: Cusco  City Tour.

This morning discover Cusco City, which was the capital of the vast and impressive Inca Civilization. Explore the Qorikancha or Sun Temple, now referred to as Santo Domingo Church. The curved stonework of the temple is probably unequalled in the world which probably was covered with gold during the Inca period. Then, visit the impressive archaeological sites around the city: Saqsayhuaman, an Inca complex with huge stone constructions, where the Inti Raymi or Festival of the Sun is held every June. Sacsayhuaman has a great cosmic energy – that is why people think it was an astronomic observatory and an Inca oracle. Explore also Q’enqo, a place used for ceremonial purposes, fertility rites and celebrations of the solstice and equinox. Once back to the city, visit the very colorful San Pedro market and finally proceed to San Blas, the Artisans’ Neighborhood of narrow and high streets, visit its beautiful little plaza and discover unique workshops.

  • Overnight in Cusco (Altitude: 3350 m. – 10991 ft)
  • Meals: Breakfast.

Day 9: Explore Cusco.

Today is free to relax and explore with your guide or on your own. You can visit the churches and surrounding ruins, such as the enormous Tipon ruins that overlook Cusco (these ruins showcase building blocks the size of pickup trucks). You can also wander through the bustling Plaza de Armas in the heart of Cusco, shop for love potions in the local markets, or people watch from the cafes and restaurants that line these lovely streets. For those bursting with energy, horseback riding, mountain biking, or even whitewater rafting (Class III-IV) can be arranged. The evening is yours to take in some of Cusco’s varied and exciting nightlife. Live folk music and excellent food abounds in Cusco!
