Unlike the colours of Rainbow Mountain, which are much more muted than many edited images would have you believe, the Red Valley really is bold, bright and downright beautiful.

Climate:
There are two very clear and marked seasons that we will let you know and take into account on your next visit to Cusco:

  1. Dry season: It is between the months of April to October, the weather is pleasant, the beautiful blue sky of Cusco is observed, in this season you can enjoy the blue landscape.
  2. The rainy season: This season includes the months of November to March, in these months the sky becomes cloudy with the presence of rain.

How to get to the Red Valley in Peru from Rainbow Mountain?

After 10 minutes of walking, you will meet the locals who charge entry to the red valley. They are exactly where the short and long path divides. They will help you choose the route.

Explore red valley is very easy to go but it is very important you have a great physical condition and not altitude sickness, then will be enjoyable to explore this area.

What to Bring to the Red Valley in Peru?

According to the weather conditions and the trail, here are some recommendations that will help you optimize your experience through the Red Valley:

  • A good daypack: Eagle Creek Afar Backpack or an appropriate pack to carry your personal belongings!
  • Lighter trekking boots with good ankle support!
  • One pair of hiking pant – not jeans!
  • 1 rain jacket “even if we are in dry season”
  • One warm/winter jacket / gloves, scarf, cap cold, thermal clothing full bod!
  • Bring some meds!: Iron tablets and pills for altitude sickness. Several people on the hike have varying degrees of altitude sickness and both of these remedies (in addition to the coca tea) are very helpful in alleviating the symptom.
  • Sun protection cream (SPF 30 or higher recommended).
  • Re-usable plastic or metal water container.
  • Bandages or moleskin.
  • Extra money for souvenirs, drinks.
