Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Sacred Valley Lookout – Pisac – Urubamba – Ollantaytambo – Chinchero – Cusco

Highlight of the Day: Explore the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting Pisac, Ollantaytambo, and Chinchero while enjoying spectacular views of the Urubamba Valley and its ancient agricultural terraces.

Pisac, Ollantaytambo & Chinchero

At 7:30 AM, we’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and begin the Sacred Valley tour. We drive past the impressive Saqsaywaman fortress and cross the mountains on our way to the valley. As we descend about 1,500 feet to the valley floor, the views open up to the Urubamba River and the picturesque village of Pisac.

Our first stop is the traditional market in Pisac, where you can wander through the colorful stalls and browse local crafts, textiles, and souvenirs. You’ll have around 30 minutes here to explore at your own pace. After the market, we drive up to the Pisac ruins, where the hillside terraces and Inca structures offer breathtaking views of the valley below.

At Pisac, your guide will lead you through the Citadel, showing temples, houses, altars, carvings, tunnels, caves, and the famous Intihuatana, also known as the “Hitching Post of the Sun.” You’ll have roughly 90 minutes to explore these impressive ruins.

After Pisac, we continue to Urubamba for a lunch stop of about 45 minutes. Following lunch, it’s a short 30-minute drive to Ollantaytambo, surrounded by sacred mountains. Here, you’ll have about an hour to explore the fortress, terraces, and Inca streets while learning about its history and significance from your guide.

On the way back to Cusco, we stop at the picturesque town of Chinchero, where we visit the ruins of a royal hacienda built for Tupac Inca Yupanqui.

You’ll admire the well-preserved Inca wall in the main plaza and visit the beautiful colonial church with intriguing frescoes painted on its portico, all built on Inca foundations. After exploring Chinchero, we return to Cusco and transfer you back to your hotel, marking the end of an unforgettable journey through the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

Important: Entry to the archaeological sites visited during the Sacred Valley Tour requires the Cusco Tourist Ticket (Boleto Turístico del Cusco), which is not included unless otherwise specified in your tour package.
