Our first stop is Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, where you’ll visit the beautiful Cusco Cathedral, a stunning example of colonial architecture. From there, we’ll walk through an ancient Inca-built street to Qoricancha, the Temple of the Sun. This was the spiritual heart of the Inca Empire, and here you’ll see how Inca architecture blends with Catholic influences. Next, we’ll head to Sacsayhuaman, an extraordinary site at (3700m/12,139 ft), known for its massive stone walls, some weighing over 200 tons. The panoramic view of Cusco from here is breathtaking, offering a bird’s-eye view of the entire city, surrounded by mountains. We’ll then visit Qenqo, a fascinating site known for its Inca altars and intricate carvings. This site was used by the Incas for ceremonies and rituals, and you’ll be amazed by the rock formations and the mysterious channels carved into the rock. Afterward, we’ll head to Puca Pucara, a small but strategically significant military site. Perched at (3600m/11,811 ft), this circular complex was likely used to control access to Cusco and its surrounding regions. Finally, we’ll arrive at Tambomachay, the Inca water temple.
