Ancascocha Trek
The what trail you say? The Ancascocha Trek (pronounced: Ahn-kahs-kocha) in the Andean Mountains of Peru is the newest alternative trek and by far the least well known. This Ancascocha trek is one of my favorites – very few people go so it’s remote and it’s definitely one of the most strenuous (rivaled only by the Choquequirao Trek). What makes it to challenging? Well, you’ll hike 56km (34.8 miles) over 4 days, and summit very steep passes up to 4821m (15,817 ft), gaining over 1950m (6,400 ft) over the course of the trek.
Our service qualities: Ancascocha Trek
Excellence Service: We pride ourselves on providing a 5 star service for all of our clients. From your initial booking, to the pre-trek briefing, to every aspect of the trek itself, we are dedicated to providing world class customer service and adventure experiences.
Quality equipment: During any of our adventures, your safety and comfort is our primary concern. When trekking through rugged mountain terrain, at high altitudes, with unpredictable weather, it is essential to have the best equipment available. We provide 4 season tents, top of the line mattress pads, dry bags for your overnight gear, and much more, to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Our team of guides, porters and horsemen are some of the most experienced in the region too, so you can rest assured you are in safe hands.
No Hidden Costs: All of our treks and tours are “all inclusive”. We believe we have created the highest quality, best value tours available, and so we do not charge extras to “upgrade”. All meals, travel, transfers and entry tickets are included in the price, and there are no booking fees. Tips for your crew are not included, but these are entirely optional and there is never any pressure to tip.
Small and friendly Groups: We believe that the best trekking experiences are enjoyed with groups of around 8 guests. Our groups are typically a mix of solo travellers, friends travelling together, and couples, all of varying ages, backgrounds and nationalities. Come prepared to make lots of new friends.
Food: We pride ourselves on hiring some of the best chefs in the region, who specialise in mountainside cooking. Only the best, highest quality ingredients are selected from local farmers. Our chefs prepare a specially designed menu to maximize energy and to help with acclimatization to the altitude. And the dishes, which are a mix of traditional Peruvian and contemporary cuisines are delicious too!
Personalized trekking Groups: We can customize any ancascocha trek or tour to suit your travel, fitness and time preferences. Got a corporate or work event, charity group, or any other major event you’d like to book a trek or tour for? Get in touch, we can arrange everything for you!
Our guides: At Ancascocha Trail we believe our Trekking Guides are one of our most important assets.
You will first meet your Guide at a pre-trek briefing a day or two before your ancascocha trek starts. Then, once on the trek itself, your Guide has many roles. From directing the support team so that camps are prepared ahead of our arrival, to setting the pace for the ancascocha trek to ensure we cover the right distance (but without leaving anyone struggling). From choosing the right (often unmarked) trails through the mountainous terrain, to providing commentary and tours of the many ancient, historic sites. Our Guides really are the backbone and the heartbeat of any of our treks.
We pride ourselves that we hire only the most experienced, knowledgeable and friendly guides of any of the tour companies in the area, so you can rest assured that you will be in safe hands for the duration of your trek.
