Hacienda Huayoccari
Hacienda Huayoccari is considered a hidden gem in the sacred valley that you will not find on the generic tourist route of Cusco. Hidden away on the Lambarri-Orihuela family’s lush, greenery-filled private estate in the village of Huayoccari in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Location
The Huayoccari hacienda is located in the heart of the sacred valley, 60 km from the city of Cusco.
Located between Pisac and Urubamba, exactly is the Quebrada de Urquillos, which can be seen extending towards the valley from the windows of the Casa Nueva of the Hacienda Huayoccari.
The Lambarri Orihuela family
During the Colony these crops were grown in estates, or haciendas. The Hacienda Huayoccari once comprised three thousand hectares of mountains, lakes and farmland. Don José Orihuela Yábar – whose family had been landowners in the Sacred Valley since the 18th century – purchased it from the Montes de Peralta family in 1916. The patriarch Don José Orihuela became a pioneer in white corn exportation, as well as mayor of Urubamba, congressman for the region and columnist in several Lima newspapers.
He was also a passionate art collector. His daughter María Cristina Orihuela and her husband, Jesús Lambarri, kept this legacy alive, in agriculture, politics, art and philanthropy. Jesús Lambarri created the white corn farmers cooperative for the exportation of this crop.
What you will find at Hacienda Huayoccari
The Hacienda Huayoccari the owners private collection of pre-Colombian, Incan and colonial artefacts including an impressive collection of ‘Qeros’ the traditional drinking vessels. Browse through the interesting museum with a welcome pisco sour in hand before heading into the dining area.

- One of the reasons the house was originally built was to house the art collection of Don José Orihuela and his descendants, and it has since become a cultural center for the Cusco region.
