You will receive a detailed contact information sheet, including hotel details, our office contacts for each city, and 24-hour emergency support for any assistance you may need. Enjoy two nights in Lima at one of our carefully selected hotels, providing comfort and convenience as you begin your unforgettable journey through Peru. After breakfast, at approximately 09:00 AM, embark on a guided tour through Lima’s historic center, where centuries of history and culture come to life. Explore some of the city’s most significant landmarks, including Parque de Exposición, Plaza Grau, Paseo de los Héroes Navales, Plaza San Martín, the Main Square, the Government Palace, and the Cathedral of Lima. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991, Lima’s historic center boasts over 600 colonial-era monuments, showcasing the grandeur of Peru’s past. Following this immersive tour, we’ll head to Miraflores for a panoramic view of Huaca Pucllana, one of Lima’s 54 ancient “Huacas”, a remarkably well-preserved Pre-Inca sanctuary nestled within the modern city. After a morning of exploration, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure—stroll through vibrant neighborhoods, visit museums, or savor Peru’s world-renowned cuisine as you continue to experience the magic of Lima. A private transfer will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the airport for a short flight to Cusco. Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local guide and head straight to Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a region rich in history and breathtaking landscapes. Your first stop is Awanakancha, an interactive textile and cultural center known as a “living museum.” Here, you’ll see Andean camelids such as llamas and alpacas, learn about traditional weaving techniques, and admire finely crafted garments made from their soft wool. Next, visit the vibrant Pisac market, where local artisans display a wide array of handwoven textiles, intricate carvings, and replicas of ancient Inca artifacts. This is the perfect place to find authentic souvenirs while experiencing the colorful atmosphere of a traditional Andean market. After a day of exploration, continue to your hotel for check-in and an evening of relaxation in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Begin your trip today with visits to the archaeological vestiges of Maras and Moray. Maras is an impressive salt mine complex. These are huge salt deposits that were exchanged for other products from other parts of the empire. Moray’s archaeological vestiges are composed of mysterious concentric circular terraces which, according to some scholars, would be an agricultural research center. The higher external terraces would be at a higher temperature than the inner terraces and could simulate the different ecological strata of the empire. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue the trip to the Ollantaytambo Park, stopping at various points of interest along the route. Ollantaytambo is a typical example of the urban planning of the Incas, whose residents still live in accordance with their old traditions. Pachacútec (1438-1471) conquered the town, destroyed it and built a new one, absorbing it as part of his empire, and it is currently considered one of the most remarkable archaeological complexes of the Inca Empire. After your visit, take a short walk to the Ollantaytambo Train Station and board the Vistadome Train for a breathtaking 1.5-hour journey to Machu Picchu. As you travel through the lush landscapes of the Sacred Valley, enjoy panoramic views of misty mountains and dense cloud forests, making for an unforgettable experience. Upon arrival, we’ll assist you in boarding the bus to Machu Picchu, perched at 7,970 feet above sea level and hidden for nearly 400 years beneath thick jungle vegetation. Embark on an in-depth, 2-hour guided tour, where your private guide will unveil the mysteries and significance of Machu Picchu. Visit its most iconic landmarks, including the Main Plaza, Circular Tower, Sacred Sundial, Royal Quarters, and Temple of Three Windows. Afterward, take your time to explore, capture stunning photos, and soak in the breathtaking views of this ancient citadel. Conclude your day with a scenic bus ride to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll settle in for a peaceful night’s rest, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the cloud forest. Start your day early and experience Machu Picchu at sunrise, walking through the mystical ruins before the crowds arrive. The soft morning mist and golden light create a truly spiritual and awe-inspiring atmosphere—an unforgettable highlight of your journey. For those seeking an extra challenge, Huayna Picchu Mountain awaits. Located to the north of Machu Picchu, this towering peak is often seen in the background of iconic photos of the citadel. A pre-booked permit is required to access this thrilling hike. The trail, often called a stairway to heaven, winds along the mountainside with ancient steps carved directly into the rock. As you ascend, you’ll witness Inca terraces ingeniously built to prevent erosion, once used to cultivate crops at high altitude. The 1.5-hour climb rewards you with breathtaking panoramic views of Machu Picchu and the surrounding Andean peaks. After your adventure, take the bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you can relax before boarding the Vistadome train to Ollantaytambo. Upon arrival, our team will be waiting to transfer you back to Cusco, where you’ll settle in for a well-deserved night’s rest after an extraordinary day of exploration. Inca rulers once called Cusco the “Navel of the World”. Cusco remains today a city that blends colonial Spanish charm with older, more austere remains of pre-Columbian glory. One can see the foundations of Inca structures on many of its city streets today. Today you will go on a guided visit of the Imperial City of Cusco. In this Cusco city tour, you will visit the Main Plaza, which has been the scene of great historical events in the Capital of the Incas, the main Cathedral church, built of great slabs of red granite in renaissance style and thus contrasting with the baroque style silverwork which decorates its interior. You will then continue on to the Santo Domingo church, built upon the foundations of the Inca temple Koricancha, which was dedicated to Sun worship. Later, you will head to the City’s nearby ruins; the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, a magnificent example of Incan military power; Qenqo, a ritualistic site with subterranean galleries that form an underground maze; Puca Pucara, the red fortress and finally Tambomachay, also known as the Incan Baths. After this amazing educative Cusco city tour, you will be driven back to your hotel. Spend your final morning in Peru with a Design Your Day activity of your choice: Later, transfer to the airport for your departing flight, bringing home unforgettable memories of your journey.
