Day 1: Cusco – Sistine Chapel – Raqchi – Pucara – Puno

Highlight of the day: Travel the famous Route of the Sun, discovering colonial churches, Inca archaeological sites, traditional Andean villages, and breathtaking mountain landscapes on the scenic journey from Cusco to Puno.

We will pick you up from your hotel at 6:00 am and transfer you to the tourist bus station. Our buses offer comfortable service with an English-speaking guide and an onboard attendant who provides hot and cold drinks throughout the journey.

Along the way, you’ll visit fascinating sites such as Inca ruins, local museums, and the Andahuaylillas Church, known as the Sistine Chapel of South America for its impressive frescoes. The journey continues to the Racchi Inca ruins, once an important religious and resting place for Inca travelers.

Next, we stop at La Raya Pass, the natural border between the regions of Cusco and Puno, where you can admire the Andean landscapes and see llamas and alpacas in their natural environment. In Pucara, you’ll visit a small museum displaying pre-Inca artifacts that tell the early history of the region.

Finally, around 5:30 pm, we arrive in Puno, where our local representative will be waiting to take you to your hotel for a well-deserved rest.

After breakfast at your hotel, your tour leader will pick you up and take you to the port of Puno. From there, enjoy a 30-minute boat ride across Lake Titicaca to the famous Uros floating islands.
