Continuing through remote communities and rolling mountain scenery, we arrive at the famous Qeswachaka Bridge, the last remaining Inca rope bridge still rebuilt every year by local Quechua communities using ancestral techniques. Suspended above the Apurímac River, this remarkable structure is recognized as a living example of Inca engineering and cultural heritage.

After exploring the bridge and learning about its history and traditions, we’ll enjoy a delicious local lunch before continuing deeper into the Andes. The journey takes us through traditional villages where farming and weaving remain an important part of daily life.

In the late afternoon, we arrive at a comfortable Andean guesthouse located in a traditional mountain village. Here you’ll enjoy a warm dinner, beautiful mountain views, and a unique opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere of rural Andean life.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

1.- Is the Qeswachaka Bridge and Rainbow Mountain 2 Days 1 Night tour worth it?

Yes. This tour combines two of the most remarkable attractions in the Cusco region in a single adventure. You’ll visit the last handwoven Inca rope bridge, explore the scenic Four Lakes, stay overnight in a traditional Andean village, and enjoy an early visit to Rainbow Mountain before the arrival of most tour groups.

2.- How difficult is the Rainbow Mountain hike?

The hike is considered moderate due to the altitude rather than the distance. Most travelers can complete the route at a comfortable pace, especially if they have spent a few days acclimatizing in Cusco before the tour.

3.- Why spend the night in an Andean village instead of returning to Cusco?

The overnight stay reduces travel time and allows an earlier departure to Rainbow Mountain. This means fewer crowds, better lighting for photographs, and a more enjoyable experience compared to traditional day tours from Cusco.

4.- What is the highest altitude reached during the tour?

The highest point is Rainbow Mountain at approximately 5,200 m (17,060 ft). Because of the elevation, we recommend spending at least two days in Cusco before joining the tour to help your body adjust to the altitude.

5.- Are meals included during the tour?

Yes. The tour includes two breakfasts, two lunches, and one dinner. Meals are freshly prepared and vegetarian options can be arranged at no additional cost if requested in advance.

6.- Can beginners join this tour?

Yes. No previous trekking experience is required. The tour is suitable for active travelers with a reasonable level of fitness who want to experience both Qeswachaka Bridge and Rainbow Mountain in a comfortable two-day itinerary.

7.- When is the best time to visit Qeswachaka Bridge and Rainbow Mountain?

The dry season from April to October offers the best weather conditions, with clearer skies and excellent mountain views. However, this tour operates throughout the year and each season offers a different perspective of the Andean landscape.

8.- What makes this tour different from a standard Rainbow Mountain tour from Cusco?

Unlike most tours that require long hours of driving from Cusco, this itinerary includes an overnight stay near Rainbow Mountain. This allows you to arrive earlier, avoid the largest crowds, spend more time exploring, and enjoy a more authentic experience in the Andes.
